Aquarelle sind eine seit langem mit Vorliebe benutzte,
charakteristische Ausdrucksform für diese
aus Siebenbürgen nach Ungarn übersiedelte
Künstlerin. Oft entstammen sie teils der Willkür
der Natur: Mária Chilf lässt Regentropfen auf die
aufs Papier getragenen Farbflächen fallen und
steuert nur bedingt, wohin und wie dünn sie fliessen.
Die Natur – in ihrer mal harmonischen, mal
spannungsvollen Beziehung zur Zivilisation – steht
auch als Thema im Fokus. Die Serie besteht aus
elf Kompositionen, darunter das hier abgebildete
Schweinchen, der Hase und der Teppich. Ein feines
Gefühl für Kolorit, sowie abstrakte, ausgeprägt
malerische Qualitäten und gleichzeitig deren gesellschaftskritische, ironische Anwendung durch
trügerisch narrative Figuration gehören auch seither
zu Chilfs meist gebrauchten Mitteln. Gabor Ebli
Watercolour painting is the genre preferred by the
artist, who was born in Transylvania and moved to
Hungary, and the form of expression that is characteristic
for her. Often her works are created partly
arbitrarily by nature: raintrops fall on the colours
that Maria Chilf has painted on the paper and the artist
influences only very limitedly their direction and
their thickness. Her work focuses on nature – in its
sometimes harmonious, sometimes tense relation
to civilization. The series consists of 11 compositions,
among them the little pig, the rabbit and the
carpet. A delicate feeling for coloration as well as
abstract, distinct qualities as a painter that are implemented
sociocritically and ironically through deceivingly
narrative figuration are among the artist’s
